It would seem that I only blog during my holidays. Well it is true and this time we are in San Francisco, USA. We planned a trip to the States to see some family in San Francisco and Los Angeles.  Today we arrived on Qantas QF73 here in SF.  We left Sydney at around 2pm on Sunday 12th (Easter Sunday) and yet we arrived here in SF at 10am on the same day. The children were ok on the 13 hour journey, although Hannah was a little unsettled and cried a bit due to a lack of sleep and strange surroundings. Andrew, on the other hand, had a ball. He watched TV as if there was no tomorrow. He ate as if he never saw food before and he even pretended to be the captain and made his own announcements.  I managed to get some sleep.

We went to see Tracy’s aunty and her family as we were picked up by Tracy’s cousin, Judy. They talked about the family history and how things unfolded, in particular the movements of the family in China from city to city before coming to America/Australia.

During the little time that we had in the afternoon (because we all had a long nap) we managed to go down to the Fishermans Wharf. We didn’t realise how cold, especially the wind, it was here. We had to find all the warm clothes we brought.  Clam Chowder in Sourdough bowl was a big hit with Tracy.

We were all out at Darling Harbour on Monday. There were people every where being a public holiday. We even saw some people that we have not seen since child hood.

In the last post that, I could *feel* the comments of “how cheap”, “what the … is Johnny thinking..”, so I thought that I would post a ride that IS worth the money. At Darling Harbour there is an old merry go round. Andrew had been on this ride before so he was excited about the prospect of going on it again. Hannah missed out last time because she was too young. It was great timing this time. Hannah was up, older and Andrew was ready to ride! $6 for two tickets and the whole family can ride and be little kids again, even Tracy was excited. Just watch the expressions on Andrew’s face during the ride.

This goes to prove that I am not cheap but that I am wise in my spending, so to all stop that “how cheap” thoughts
